I trained in psychodynamic couple work at London Marriage Guidance (now called Tavistock Relationships), and have worked for the NHS, London Marriage Guidance and was a Licensed Relate Counsellor for 8 years.
Working psychodynamically with couples and individuals for 32 years, I am a Registered Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Every year I re-register and complete 30 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) in order to remain an accredited member. During the 32 years my work has been informed by the diverse range of circumstances of my clients, I have also attended courses with The Institute of Psychoanalysis and The Cognitive Analytical Therapy Centre.
I have worked in various NHS centres whilst running a private practice in Kensington and Chelsea, West London. I now work only in Private Practice.
Before coming for an initial session, clients are asked to sign a contract and a GDPR form. I take Data Protection very seriously and adhere to the laws now covering this necessity. I also register regularly with ICO.
In recent years, due to people travelling for their work and spending long periods living outside their country of origin, I have noticed a need for Skype sessions and telephone work. I have incorporated this facility into my practice.
Linking past stories, memories and sometimes unconscious reactions to present-day difficulties, I work with people to make sense of what seems to be a feeling of being stuck and helpless. This can aid communication issues, cross-cultural misunderstandings, later life stages bringing loss, fear of life-ending, change, a sense of loneliness and exclusion. Depression, difference, disappointment and feelings of rejection and abandonment all surface when unpicking the root of repetitive pitfalls.
I am pleased to give journalists input for appropriate articles relating to couples and individuals. There is a weekly blog on the Coupleworks website which I contribute to once every six weeks.
I am, for the present, holding sessions on Skype and Zoom whilst face to face sessions are not possible. My work for some years has been using Skype for people living away from London as well as face to face for those who live and work in and around Kensington and Chelsea. This experience hitherto has encouraged an apparently seamless transition to Skype for all my clients at this time.
I look forward, however, to seeing those who are able to come to my consulting room and we all resume full working life.
